The Academy of Management Accountancy Nepal (AMAN) was established in 2018 with the primary objective of promoting professional education and awareness in the fields of Management, Accountancy, and Finance in Nepal. Its formation marked a significant step toward bridging the gap between traditional financial accounting and the strategic decision-making needs of modern businesses.
The foundation of AMAN was a response to growing national and international trends in cost and management accounting. As globalization accelerated, the need for financial efficiency, strategic cost control, and performance-based decision-making became essential for Nepalese enterprises. Recognizing this need, a group of visionary professionals, academics, and financial experts—many of whom were members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) and had experience with international bodies like CMA Australia—came together to establish an institution dedicated to management accountancy.
Key milestones in AMAN’s development include:
June 2018 – Initial discussions and registration of AMAN at the Company Registration Office under Nepalese law.
September 2018 – Formal launch of AMAN to promote education, training, and research in management accounting.
November 2018 – Strategic collaboration with ICMA Australia to offer the CMA Australia program and Graduate Conversion Program in Nepal.
September 2019 – Hosted the first CMA Program in Nepal with the participation of ICMA Australia's President, CEO, and CFO.
Ongoing – Advocacy with national bodies like the Ministry of Finance, Office of the Auditor General, Nepal Rastra Bank, and the Ministry of Education to promote recognition of CMA professionals.
